So, I've been away for a while due to the sad passing of my mother last June. Things have been pretty intense these last two or three months, but slowly things are getting back to a more normal level of intensity! After a great gig in Cork on July 20th with a new and more manageable 4 piece line-up, I am back on the band wagon (no pun intended) and working hard as ever. There are some things in the pipeline that I'm really excited about so here is a much needed update!
Due to the aforementioned situation with my mother, we were forced to cancel the launch of the Laura Sheeran/Katie Kim split 7" single which was supposed to happen last May. Myself and Katie are delighted that the launch has been reorganized and confirmed for August 14th in Whelans, Dublin. Thanks to the guys at Flaming June for their patience and for making all the necessary arrangements. In anticipation of the single launch, I have made a video for my contribution, A Wake, which you can view below! More information on myself and Katie's live set-up for the gig coming soon…
Over the past couple of months, I have begun collaborating with Dublin's most exciting new performance group, Paper Dolls. The four immensely talented and creative women in the group are set to create one of the most innovative and exciting shows happening in Ireland this year. By combining Aerial Performance and Dance with the latest Ambi-Sonic Technology and a visual/sculptural sensibility, they will create a multi-sensory performance which allow audience membered to be completely immersed in a new world for the length of the show. I have been asked to compose music specially for the performance, which is something I am very excited about! The music will be played through 8 speakers surrounding the audience and performers alike. Through these eight speakers, various components of the music and sounds will move flawlessly around the central field and thus will create a 3D (if not 4D) sound effect.
The Paper Dolls will be presenting this show from September 14th-19th as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival. The venue is The Complex in Smithfield, and tickets are already on sale (€10-€14), so go get'em!.
The Paper Dolls are currently running a fundraising campaign for this show with the Irish crowd-funding project Fundit. If you feel this spectacular show is worth supporting, do visit the campaign page, where a selection of lovely rewards awaits potential funders.
